Curzon Ashton 3-0 Frickley Athletic
December 6, 2014 - 9:42 PM
The Blues suffered defeat at high-flying Curzon Ashton who richly deserved their win after dictating play for the vast majority of the game.
After Monday night's Doodson Sport Cup defeat at Harrogate Railway Ben Simpson returned in goal with Joe Davies coming in at left back and both Matty Bloor and Matt Young returning to the midfield. With Reece Thompson suspended and Luke Hinsley on honeymoon Gavin Allott was the loan striker with Luke Hornsey supporting from midfield.
Ryan Brooke gave Curzon the lead on 22 minutes, shooting past Simpson from close range after a slip from Jack Broadhead whilst a needlessly conceded penalty 11 minutes later saw Sam Walker double the home side's lead from the penalty spot.
Five minutes after half time Curzon Ashton effectively sealed their win when a swift attack saw Joe Guest fire home their third goal following a cross from Sam Walker.
Luke Jeffs replaced Joe Davies and Allott was then replaced by Bobby Johnson with Max Leonard moving further forwards. Broadhead headed a free-kick wide on 78 minutes with the same player forcing Hakan Burton into a smart save shortly afterwards.
